Renewable Energy Services

The TEA Services in the field of renewables are

  • Feasibility Studies: TEA can complete feasibility studies for new developments with a focus on locally based product development or projects for the RE Heat market
  • Renewable Energy Procurement Service: TEA have successfully completed the procurement for 2MW of biomass boilers since start of 2011. This is a significant achievement in light of the cessation of the REHEAT grant aid in Dec 2010. If you are interested in converting your business from Oil/Gas to wood fuel please contact TEA for a cost effective quotation to procure and project management of your scheme.
  • Bioenergy: The TEA will work with the regional actors to develop a bioenergy energy development service on a regional basis with other LEAs (on-going in MWRA and SERA).

  • Market Assessment: Complete analysis of medium/large scale end users in the County with a view to supporting implementation of projects
  • Resource Assessment: Complete RE Resource assessment for the County and update annually.
  • Information and Support: Provide dedicated information and support to the farming sector on Bioenergy crop production We are currently working on the FOREST project and BioEnarea project. We have also previously worked on the EU BioNett Project. See BioNett
  • Support establishment of supply chains through identification of barriers and supporting funding agencies
  • Provision of best practise information and advice
  • Provision of information to commercial and residential sector to allow access to National Grants and Supports e.g. Greener Homes and RE Heat.
  • Provision of the Procurement Services, ensuring results are achieved that are sustainable and contribute to the reduction in CO2 for the county.

The above services has been based on the review of the market which noted the following

  • A need, in the short-medium term to focus on renewable energy heating
  • The wind energy market is evolving and the best added value from the TEA would be involvement in wind energy will be based in small scale local wind energy projects, and focusing on  working with the Templederry Community Group to develop their community wind farm.
  • There is a need for dedicated information/awareness campaign in the area localised to Co. Tipperary
  • There is a need to emphasis quality control and standards within the sector.
