Stradbally Hall 28kW Hydro Generator
In September 2010 the Tipperary Energy Agency procured the lease of a newly commissioned Hydro Generator on behalf of the Templederry Wind Farm Ltd. The generator is located at the site of Stradbally Hall, Stradbally, Co. Laois. The 28kW generator has been commissioned and connected to the Grid since September 2010. It provides monthly approx 3MWh to stradbally hall and the balance of approx 6MWh is exported to the Grid by the Templederry Wind Farm Ltd.
The benefit of this scheme permits the TWFL to become a nett generator of power and paves the way to procuring investment for their larger Wind Farm Project (4.2MW). The wind farm is expected to commence construction in mid 2011. It is a community owned wind farm and will provide revenue for community services into the future that otherwise would not exist in a rural setting in Ireland.
