Tipperary Energy Agency (TEA) worked on a project called Open Days for Sustainable Energy in 2009 with 3 Co. Tipperary houseowners opening their homes in January/February 2010 and  another 5 in October/November 2009  Members of the general public and interested in sustainable energy have been able to visit dwellings where renewable energies technologies have been installed. They learned about the pros and cons of each technologies and  how the systems work,  were able to review and discuss the installation, running costs and find out the main aspects they should consider before purchasing the systems by benefitting from the  owner’s experiences  as well as receiving information from energy experts. The visits  demonstrated technologies such as Biomass Boilers, Solar Panels, Heat Pump, Passive House Concept , Stove and Wind Turbine.

There was no charge for the attendees and the visits  were very popular with a total of nearly 80  people attending.

The project received good feedback and resulted in Renewable Energy technologies being installed.
