Audit

Coolbawn Water Supply is the largest water supply facility in North Tipperary. In 2007, Paul Kenny completed an energy audit of the site. Energy upgrades such as high efficiency pumps, variable speed drives and controls were recommended on the raw water and the final water pumping stations. Implementation

In 2008, the raw water pumping controls were re-programmed which resulted in lower head losses, less energy consumption and a reduced MIC.

In 2009, Siona Daly secured funding from SEAI through the “Support for Exemplar Energy Efficiency Program” to complete a number of the measures that were outlined in the report. This work was completed in December 2009.

There is also ongoing work being carried out in Water Conservation which has significantly reduced the pumping requirement at the facility.

Results

As can be seen from the graph below, the from 2007-2009, there has been over 40% saving on electricity at this facility. So far in 2010, there has been a further reduction in electricity consumption of 11%.
