Tipperary County Council is the authority responsible for local government in County Tipperary. It came into operation on 3 June 2014. It is a merger of North Tipperary County Council and South Tipperary County Council under the provisions of the Local Government Reform Act 2014. Tipperary Energy Agency was Co-founded by Tipperary County Council and acts as the Local Authoritys energy managers. Tipperary Co Co is one of the leading energy efficiency and renewable energy public bodies with over 90% of it’s heat supplied from renewable energy.

The Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland was established as Ireland’s national energy authority under the Sustainable Energy Act 2002. SEAI’s mission is to play a leading role in transforming Ireland into a society based on sustainable energy structures, technologies and practices. To fulfill this mission SEAI aims to provide well-timed and informed advice to Government, and deliver a range of programmes efficiently and effectively, while engaging and motivating a wide range of stakeholders and showing continuing flexibility and innovation in all activities.
